On August 7, 2015, the Federal Communications Commission released a Notice of Inquiry assessing the “availability of advanced telecommunications capability to all Americans (including, in particular, elementary and secondary schools and classrooms.)” Section 706 of the 1996 Telecommunications Act requires the FCC to release an annual report of the current state of broadband deployment.
The FCC is seeking comment on the Form 471 data concerning schools and libraries and would like stakeholders to submit analyses of trends indicated by the new information that is being collected.
