At Funds for Learning, we highly value our team members, your guides! This week, let us introduce you to Brian Guire, Vice President. Brian has been a part of the FFL team for 14 years.

What are three words to describe you?
Tenacious, ratiocinative and easy-going

What are your favorite things to do outside work?
Read spy novels, play disc golf, work jigsaw puzzles and play Xbox One

What is your current favorite TV show and why?
Continuum: time travel is an interesting and paradoxical concept

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why (calories don’t count in this scenario)?
Pizza because you can mix it up with the toppings

What is your favorite E-rate filing window memory?
That one year where they didn’t change any of the program rules or online systems (oh wait, did that ever happen?)

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Making this work a little less burdensome for others

How have you seen one or more of the Funds For Learning GuideMarks displayed during your time at FFL? Working through the filing window and issues with EPC provided plenty of examples.  Our solutions ranged from using every last trick we had to get our software to work to manually entering applications on EPC to get all of them filed by the deadline.  That is an example of Solution-minded.

If you could pick one theme for Funds For Learning to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?
Overcoming adversity

Any advice for applicants as they navigate through this E-rate filing window?
We expect that USAC won’t rock the boat as much this year as they did last year, so just remember the lessons we all learned from the FY2016 window and that should help a lot.
