Copps and Tate Sworn in as FCC Commissioner; Lisa Zaina Resigns as CEO of USAC

Michael Copps was sworn in for a second five year term which runs through June 30, 2010. He has served as Commissioner since 2001. Deborah Tate was also sworn in on January 3rd and her term expires June 30, 2007. There is still one vacant Commissioner spot as FCC Chairman Michael Powell and Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy had both resigned in 2005. Before joining the FCC, Tate was serving a six-year term as Director of the Tennessee Regulatory Authority where she served as Chairman from 2003-2004.

Lisa Zaina resigned as CEO of USAC effective January 1 and has served in that position since January 2004. D. Scott Barash, Vice President and General Counsel has been named acting CEO while USAC searches for a permanent successor.
