SLD Starts to Issue Katrina Commitments

This week the SLD issued Wave 37 for Funding Year 2005 which funded three E-rate applicants affected by Hurricane Katrina. These applicants posted new Form 471s during the special Katrina filing window. The FCC recently extended the special window until September 30, 2006, but because September 30 falls on a Saturday the actual filing extension date will be October 2nd, 2006. The three funded applicants requested $110,283.77 and were committed $97,464.17 while $12,819.60 was denied. The SLD reduced the amounts due to requests for ineligible products.

Over 400 applicants and service providers received 2005 funding letters this week totaling $14.8 million in commitments. The SLD has committed a total of $1.34 billion to date with $1.46 billion still pending.

The full funding waves can be viewed at E-rate Manager Wave Reports.
