E-rate Bill Addresses “Homework Gap”

On March 12, 2019, Senator Udall (D-NM) and Senator Gardner (R-CO) introduced legislation that would allow school districts to receive E-rate reimbursement for wireless Internet on school buses. Senator Udall and Gardner believe this bill will help address the homework gap that negatively impacts many rural and low-income communities. This bill was introduced last Congress, but no hearings or other action took place. A companion House bill was also introduced on March 12, 2019 by Reps Peter Welch (D-VT) and Debra Haaland (D-NM)
