Commissioners Consider C2 Modifications

On February 11, 2019, the FCC released the Category Two staff report highlighting the benefits of how districts and libraries are able to make use of Internal Connections.  The report found that the Commission’s goal in creating these budgets “have largely been met” and are recommending to retain the Category Two budget approach as opposed to the “two-in-five” year rule that proceeded this new regulation.  The FCC on May 20, 2019 began to circulate a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking tied to the E-rate program and once at least three FCC Commissioners agree on the proposed new rules, the item will voted on and made public for stakeholder feedback.  We believe the May 20th FCC E-rate item is tied to creating new Category Two rules going forward, but we will have to wait until they are public to view the details.
