SLD Releases Wave 16 Funding Year 2006

The SLD notified 471 applicants and 388 service providers about the status of their 2006 funding requests. The SLD committed $17 million this week which leaves 2,880,714,175 pending in 2006.

The SLD has not released any 2005 funding waves in the last few weeks and there is no 2005 wave scheduled for this week either. The Bishop Perry Order and other recent FCC appeals have made the SLD shift resources to respond to those decisions. However, USAC recently gave the SLD authority to use an additional $3.5 million to respond to the FCC’s actions which hopefully will help with the 2005 funding delays. According to a Funds For Learning analysis there is still $238,650,914.48 in requests pending for applicants that are at least 84% and above for priority two requests and there is no indication when the SLD will lower the threshold further.
