FY2026 Approvals Continue at Strong Pace. Is Yours In?

As of June 1, 2026, approximately $1.1 billion had been committed for Funding Year 2026 applications filed by schools and libraries nationwide. The pace is strong, though total commitments as of June 1 are running slightly behind where the past several funding years stood at this same point. (For a look at how the early waves shook out, see our recap of the first FY2026 funding wave.)

About 65% of FY2026 commitments so far have gone to Category One services, with the rest going to Category Two.

If you filed an FY2026 application and haven’t seen a decision yet, you’re not behind the curve. About 68% of applicants have received at least one funding decision so far, which means roughly 1 in 3 are still waiting. If that’s you, here’s what a missed wave does and doesn’t mean. Here are a few other “as of June 1” facts and figures from Funding Year 2026:

  •  Almost 39% of all funding requests (FRNs) have been issued funding decisions
  • About 68% of applicants who submitted an FY2026 application have received at least one decision
  • An applicant in Nebraska holds the record for the smallest total funding committed so far, at $117.00
  • An applicant in Alaska has been committed the most funds thus far, at almost $91 million
  • Commitments have been issued in 55 states and US territories, with only the Northern Mariana Islands yet to receive a decision
  • Almost 75% of committed FRNs so far have requested the SPI invoice method. (Not sure whether SPI or BEAR is right for you? Here’s how to decide.)

Decisions are landing every week. The fastest way to know exactly where your application stands is to track it in real time.
