FCC Releases “Learning On-The-Go” Order

On July 11, 2011, the FCC released an Order regarding the “Learning On-The-Go” pilot, also known as the E-rate Deployed Ubiquitously (EDU) program. The Order contains new information regarding how the 20 approved participants (originally announced on March 9, 2011) were selected and what specific reporting obligations they will need to fulfill. Each recipient will be required to submit an interim status report to the Commission by February 24, 2012, and a final report by October 31, 2012. The reports must include specific details about the participants’ off-campus wireless broadband projects, including:

  • Project Benefit

  • Project Costs

  • Effectiveness of Protection Measures

  • Lessons Learned

Interim and final reports should be submitted via email to EDU2011pilot@fcc.gov, with a courtesy copy by mail to Regina Brown, Telecommunications Access Policy Division, Wireline Competition Bureau, Federal Communications Commission, 445 12th Street, S.W., Room 5-A360, Washington, D.C. 20554.
