USAC Commits Additional $2.9 Million for FY 2007

The Universal Service Administrative Company this week issued $2.9 Million in E-rate funding commitments for Funding Year 2007. This marks the 44th funding wave of the funding year and brings the total amount committed for FY 2007 to $2.03 Billion.

Audits of E-rate Beneficiaries Near the 500 Mark

The latest Semi-Annual Audit Recovery Report provided to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by the E-rate program administrator indicates that almost 497 E-rate beneficiary audits have been performed to date. The Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) also reports that over $1.8 Billion in funding commitments have been audited as a result of these efforts. This represents about 9% of the total of E-rate funding commitments to date.

SLD Releases Small 2004 Wave

The SLD has released a small funding wave for Funding Year 2004 involving six applicants and nine service providers. This funding wave includes nearly $300,000 in rejections and ony $20,000 in approved commitments.

USAC Issues Small FY 2007 Wave

This week, USAC issued the 43rd commitment decision wave for the Funding Year. In this wave, 33 applicants were notified about $16.2 Million in funding commitments. The largest commitments were issued to Hartford School System in Connecticut, which received just over $3.4 Million in funding commitments.

E-rate Consultant Sentenced to Prison

The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that Judy Green, a former education technology consultant, has been sentenced to 7 ½ years in prison for defrauding the E-rate program.
