2005 Filing Window Formally Extended to February 18

The Schools and Libraries Division formally announced January 25 that it has extended the Form 471 application filing window deadline for 2005 to 11:59 EST on Friday February 18.

The change was made to accommodate applicants who had been advised by the SLD that January 21 was the last date they could post a Form 470 application and still meet the requirement for a 28-day posting period before their contracts were signed and their application filed. A Form 470 posted on that date would have generated an "Allowable Contract Date" of February 18, rather than the original deadline of February 17.

Applicants will be required to have their Form 471 applications either posted or postmarked by the new deadline, along with the certifications of their Form 471 applications and any Form 470 applications that are cited on those applications. In order to submit a certification online, applicants must be able to obtain a PIN in advance of the filing deadline. Otherwise, an applicant filing online should leave enough time to get its certifications postmarked by the deadline. If necessary, Descriptions of Service attachments can be submitted in one of several ways after the filing deadline.
