Per USAC guidance, the SLD recognizes the Friday before Christmas to the Friday following New Year’s Day as a winter deferral period. For Funding Year 2012, the deferral will run from Friday, December 21, 2012, to Friday, January 4, 2013. During the deferral period, the SLD must make successful two way communication with an applicant before enforcing a deadline for the receipt of information. The SLD will attempt to contact applicants using their preferred method of contact as specified on the FCC Form 470/471, as well as by phone. If an applicant has already received a request for information that will be due during a holiday break, it should contact its reviewer to arrange for an alternate deadline.
