On March 19, 2013, USAC held a Form 499 training webcast for telecommunications companies who are required to contribute to the Universal Service Fund. In Funding Year 2012 there were 2,460 telecommunications companies that participated in the E-rate program, and applicants requested approximately $1.7 billion in discounts on services provided by these carriers.
