USAC Releases Quarterly Report: $400 Million for Possible Rollover

On November 1, 2013, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) released their quarterly report for the first quarter of 2014. The Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) estimates that they have $400 million from previous years that can be carried forward into Funding Year 2013.

The SLD estimates that they can carry forward the following dollar amounts from these funding years:

  • FY 2002: $40 million
  • FY 2007: $20 million
  • FY 2008: $20 million
  • FY 2009: $50 million
  • FY 2010: $270 million

On May 16, 2013, the FCC authorized USAC to carry forward $450 million in unused funds. This first set of rollover funds gave the SLD the ability to cover the $2.74 billion in Priority One requests filed by applicants for FY2013. The FCC needs to give the SLD the additional authority to use the $400 million in possible rollover funds to cover any additional FY 2013 requests.
