On July 15, 2015, President Obama announced a new pilot program called ConnectHome. The federal government, along with specific localities and the private sector plan on expanding the availability of high speed broadband to more communities. The pilot program will focus on 27 cities and one tribal nation, with an initial reach of 275,000 low-income households.
While not directly tied to E-rate, ConnectHome is the next step in the President’s overall plan to expand broadband access throughout the country.
