First Quarter 2018 Cost Projections

On November 2, 2017, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) released their Quarterly Report with projections the for first quarter of 2018. USAC reported a $2 million increase in this quarter’s budget. The fourth quarter 2017 schools and libraries budget was $28.55 million and the first quarter 2018 budget is $30.06 million which is half of the overall USAC budget for the quarter, which is $60.87 million. This figure also includes High Cost, Low Income and Rural Health Care.
 
USAC further reported that there are several Form 471 applications that are still potentially fundable. Here are the numbers of potentially fundable applications, post E-rate Modernization Order:
  • 52 FY2015 potentially fundable applications, down 8 from last quarter’s report;
  • 533 FY2016 potentially fundable applications, down 127 from last quarter’s report;
  • 6,592 FY2017 potentially fundable applications, down 65,579 from last quarter’s report
