USAC Announces Interim SPIN Option for FY2026 Form 471

In a recent news brief, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) announced that, beginning March 18, 2026, an interim Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN) will be available to applicants submitting FY2026 Form 471. This interim SPIN is intended for applicants who are uncertain about which SPIN to use on their submissions.

The availability of the interim SPIN (143666666) addresses situations where a funding request cannot be filed without a valid SPIN. This option is especially useful for applicants facing challenges such as having multiple SPINs to choose from, or when service providers have undergone mergers or acquisitions, making it difficult to determine the correct SPIN. Additionally, the interim SPIN can be utilized when a new service provider is still in the process of obtaining their official SPIN.

While applicants are encouraged to provide the accurate SPIN at the time of submitting Form 471, the interim SPIN serves as a placeholder to facilitate timely application submissions. Once the correct SPIN is determined, applicants have the opportunity to update their submission by filing a Receipt Acknowledgment Letter (RAL) Modification Request or making corrections during the application review process.
