The Schools and Libraries Division announced that on August 13 it will distribute another 470 letters with $38 million in E-rate funding commitments for the 2002 funding year. That brings the total committed so far for this year to $729 million.
All of the approved commitments were for either telecommunications services or Internet access. SLD staff members have said that they do not expect to begin issuing funding commitments for internal connections until at least the second funding wave in September.
