SLD Releases Another $22 Million in Funding Commitments

The Schools and Libraries Division announced Sept. 20 that it will be releasing another $22 million worth of funding commitments for the 2002 E-rate funding year. So far, the SLD has committed just over $800 million of the $2.25 billion worth of funding commitments that it is currently authorized to make for 2002.

The SLD said it could not yet announce where the threshold would be for approved internal connections requests. Earlier in the summer, SLD officials had said that they hoped to be able to make such an announcement by late September. So far, all requests from applicants with discount rates of 80 percent or higher are still pending.
