SLD Extends E-rate Filing Window By Three Weeks

The Schools and Libraries Division announced December 2 that it will extend the application filing window for the 2003 E-rate funding year for three weeks-to 1l:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 6, 2003.

The SLD said it had made the decision, in consultation with the Federal Communications Commission and the Schools and Libraries Committee of the Universal Service Administrative Company, because of the difficulties some applicants encountered after the SLD tried to make improvements in the online Form 471 application. Although applicants could continue work on their applications after the original interface was restored, the SLD said it had determined that all applications should have at least 74 days in which to complete their applications using the original interface.

The change also means that applicants will have until January 9, 2003 to complete their Form 470 applications to provide the requisite 28-day posting period on the SLD Web site.
