SLD Commits Another $47 Million in Commitments for 2002

The Schools and Libraries Division announced March 21 that next week it will authorize another $47 million in funding commitments for the 2002 E-rate funding year. This wave, number 25, will distribute letters to 135 applicants.

There was no change in the approved threshold for internal connections requests. The SLD said it is still unsure whether it will be able to support requests from applicants with discount rates of 80 to 89 percent.

The agency said it will continue to issue waves every other week until the process is complete. Applicants who receive approval in the current wave for one-time charges will have until September 30, 2004 to complete that work.
