SLD Commits Another $50 Million for Funding Year 2002

The Schools and Libraries Division announced March 7 that next week it will issue another 78 letters and $50 million worth of funding commitments for the 2002 E-rate funding year. Applicants receiving approval for non-recurring expenses will have until September 30, 2004 to make use of those commitments.

The SLD said it still did not know whether it would be able to approve internal connections requests from applicants with a discount rate of below 90 percent. The SLD and its application-processing subcontractor had previously set March 10 as a goal for issuing all funding commitment decision letters for the 2002 funding year that were not being held for "unresolved policy issues or selective review information gathering."
