The Schools and Libraries Division announced on May 16 that it will send out commitment letters next week to 21 school and library applicants, authorizing another $16 million worth of commitments for funding year 2002. These latest funding commitments pertain both to Priority One discounts and Priority Two (internal connections) down to 81 percent. No decision has yet been made on 80 percent discount eligibility.

This latest wave brings the SLD's total funding year 2002 commitments to about $2.2 billion. Nearly 29,400 commitment letters have been released for funding year 2002. The SLD said it will issue additional commitment letters every two weeks until the process is complete.
