USAC Issues Quarterly Report; Reports $450 Million Available for Future Use

The Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) reported to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that approximately $450 million is now available from Funding Years FY 2002-2004 for future use.  On June 11, 2007 the FCC rolled over $650 million from previous years to increase the overall pot for FY 2007.  Based on the FCC's 3rd Report and Order carry over dollars will increase the overall funds available for disbursement.  Every quarter USAC is required to revise their estimates of the unused funds.

USAC reported the breakdown of unused funds by year as follows:

  • FY 2002 – $100 million
  • FY 2003 – $150 million
  • FY 2004 – $200 million

USAC continues to try to reduce potentially fundable applications from previous years. As of December 31, 2007:

  • USAC does not have any potentially fundable applications from FY 1998 to FY 2000
  • USAC has 2 potentially fundable applications from FY 2001
  • USAC has 2 potentially fundable applications from FY 2002
  • USAC has 4 potentially fundable applications from FY 2003
  • USAC has 66 potentially fundable applications from FY 2004
  • USAC has 206 potentially fundable applications from FY 2005
  • USAC has 360 potentially fundable applications from FY 2006
  • USAC has 3,563 potentially fundable applications from FY 2007
