Commitments for FY 2009 Behind 2008 Pace

An analysis by Funds For Learning shows funding commitments in advance of the upcoming funding year falls behind the pace for the same period in advance of the FY 2008 funding year–in terms of both amount committed and number of approved FRNs.

Funds For Learning compared commitments made within the first 120 days after the close of each filing window. Within the first 120 days after the close of the FY 2008 filing window, the SLD issued 40,520 commitments totaling $557 million. Within the same period since the close of the FY 2009 filing window, 12% fewer commitments have been made; with a total amount of $382 million committed–$175 million less than a year ago.
