Deadline Approaching for Internal Connection Projects

Applicants that received commitments for internal connection projects for FY 2009 should be mindful of the impending deadline to complete these projects. Internal connection projects must be delivered and installed by September 30, 2010.

If it is becoming clear that you will not meet the service delivery deadline, you can submit an extension using the SLD’s "Submit a Question" tool.  While this does not guarantee that you will be granted an extension, USAC may extend the deadline for delivery and installation of internal connection projects.  According to USAC, these situations include, but are not limited to:

  • Authorized service provider changes
  • Authorized service substitutions
  • The Funding Commitment Decision Letter (FCDL) was issued by USAC on or after March 1 of the funding year for which support is authorized
  • Circumstances beyond the service provider's control

To request a service delivery deadline extension, applicants will need to send a letter to USAC outlining the request and include the following information:

  • Contact name
  • Contact information (including email address)
  • Form 471 Application Number
  • Funding Request Number (FRN)
  • Service provider name
  • Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN)
  • Reason for extension request
  • Applicable supporting documentation

After the extension is requested, applicants can use the FRN Extension Table to determine the extended deadline for the implementation of non-recurring services.

Along with the previously mentioned "submit a question" tool, you may submit an extension request via fax at 973-599-6526 or mail at:
