FCC Office of Managing Director to Oversee Audits

On December 4, 2012, the Federal Register reported that the Federal Communications Commission staff unit responsible for annual audits of the Universal Service Administrative Company has transferred from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the Office of Managing Director (OMD.) FCC rules require USAC “to obtain and pay for an annual audit conducted by an independent auditor to examine its operations” in order “to oversee the operations of the Universal Service Administrator and to safeguard the Universal Service Fund from potential waste, fraud, and abuse.”
