On April 17, 2014 Chairman Wheeler provided opening remarks to an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) public hearing on libraries and broadband. During Chairman Wheeler’s opening remarks he stated that the E-rate was moving “…from supporting 20th Century technology to 21st Century high speed broadband technology…” Chairman Wheeler stated that the program does not just need an infusion of additional dollars, but the key is that the money needs to be well spent.
