FY 2014 First Form 486 Deadline Rapidly Approaching

October 29th, 2014 is the FCC Form 486 deadline for many E-rate applicants who received a Funding Year 2014 commitment on or before July 1st, 2014.  The Form 486 alerts USAC that services have started, and neither the applicant nor the service provider can request reimbursement until the Form 486 has been processed.

The Form 486 must be submitted electronically or postmarked within 120 days after services have started or 120 days after the date of the Funding Commitment Decision Letter (whichever is later). Funding may be reduced if a Form 486 is not submitted on time. Based on a Funds For Learning analysis, 2,859 applicants with funding requests totaling $101.7 million, and an FCDL dated on or before July 1st, 2014, have either not yet submitted their Form 486 or the form has not yet been processed by USAC.

If an applicant is unsure if they have submitted a Form 486 or need help identifying the deadline for a particular funding commitment, please email info@fundsforlearning.com and Funds For Learning can confirm the deadline date.
