FCC Receives Debarment Rule Replies

The reply comment period for the FCC’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing sweeping changes to suspension and debarment rules closed on March 15, 2020.  The Commission received two reply comments, both with a heavy emphasis on the proposed rules’ potential impact on the E-rate program.

Warning that “suspension or debarment is a serious action with significant consequences,” Funds For Learning suggests that suspension or debarment be used sparingly and only in cases of serious misconduct. The E-rate Management Professionals Association (E-mpa) concurs, requesting that the FCC “weigh the integrity of the program against the harm caused to program participants by false findings and hasty judgments.”
