Old Friends, New Horizons

The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) annual conference was held this week in sunny Miami, Florida, and as a proud sponsor Funds For Learning was grateful for the opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and learn more about the trends and issues facing EdTech leaders across the country.

Generative AI was a hot topic at this year’s conference, where K12 technology experts shared many examples of opportunities and challenges for its use in the classroom as well as the central office. Cybersecurity was another frequently discussed concern, with sessions and speakers sharing best practices from social to technical. School districts shared personal experiences with cyber incidents as their peers showed empathy and provided encouragement for the future. There were also many excellent sessions bolstering the leadership skills of our K12 EdTech leaders.

E-rate was also on the agenda at CoSN 2024! USAC attended the conference and shared an excellent presentation during a concurrent session. Funds For Learning CEO John Harrington also presented an initial analysis of Funding Year 2024 funding request data and demand. Co-presenting with John were Sheryl Abshire, former CTO of Calcasieu Parish Public Schools in Louisiana, and Reg Leichty of Foresight Law + Policy in Washington, D.C.  There was also a fun EdTech advocacy fundraiser and auction event designed to help CoSN continue its important advocacy and policy work for E-rate, digital equity, and other important EdTech issues.

What was your favorite part of CoSN 2024? Drop us a line and let us know, and we hope to see you next year in Denver!
