The Schools and Libraries Division announced Aug. 27 that in the second year of the E-rate program it will be able to support internal connections requests from applicants with discount rates of 65 percent or higher.
The cutoff point could actually drop lower. But in the latest, eighth, wave of funding commitment letters, the SLD began making commitments for applicants with discount rates that low. Last year, the SLD funded internal connections requests only for applicants with a discount rate of 70 percent or higher.
Although applicants at any discount level can qualify for support for telecommunications services and Internet access, support for internal connections is awarded on the basis of need.
