Another $126 Million in Commitments Goes Out

The Schools and Libraries Division has issued another $126 million in E-rate funding commitments for the 1999-2000 funding year. The most recently announced figures reflect the totals for Waves Ten and Eleven, which were issued in the same week when the SLD encountered computer problems in issuing Wave Ten.

Those waves bring the total committed for the second funding year to about $792 million, or about 35 percent of the $2.25 billion that the SLD has available to commit. At this point, the SLD said about 42 percent of the total has gone to support telecommunications services and Internet access and about 58 percent for internal connections.

The SLD is still approving internal connections requests down to the 65 percent discount rate.
