Funds For Learning, one of the nation's leading E-rate consulting firms, has just created a Web site tool that enables users to see how much E-rate money vendors have received. The report reflects near-total numbers for Year 1 of the program and partial payments for Year 2.

Details of specific contracting arrangements are considered proprietary by the Federal Communications Commission and the Universal Service Administrative Company. However, the FCC has released figures detailing what participating companies have received from the government from its start on Jan. 1, 1998, to March 31, 2000. The FFL tool allows the data to be accessed for a particular company by funding year, or to retrieve a ranking of companies by the category of services they provide.

The categories of companies include 'Non-Traditional Providers" (generally companies providing Internal Connections), Internet Service Providers and the various categories that telecommunications companies use to identify themselves when they file the Form 498 to participate in the program.
