Linda Schatz to Step Down from SLD Job

The Schools and Libraries Division has announced that Linda Schatz, vice president of outreach and education since October 1999, will step down, effective June 30, to "explore other opportunities in education and education technology."

The SLD said that John Noran, who has been working with Schatz since June 2000, will take over day-to-day outreach activities. Previously, Noran served for two years as E-rate coordinator for Colorado libraries.

In a statement, Schatz said, "I am especially proud of the program improvements we identified with the help of the applicants and their state and national representatives along with the SLD's Client Service Bureau. . . . Being able to implement changes to make the program easier to understand, improve customer service through the Client Service Bureau, and ease the application process for schools and libraries was very rewarding."

Before joining the SLD, Schatz served as E-rate coordinator for the state of Michigan and as director of educational telecommunications for Iowa Public Television.
