SLD Releases Another $42.5 Million in Commitments

The Schools and Libraries Division has announced the release of another $42.5 million worth of commitments for the 2002 funding year, bringing the total committed so far to $1.459 billion.

There was no change in the approved threshold for funding requests for internal connections. The SLD has said it will be able to approve all eligible requests for funding requests at the 90 percent discount rate, and may be able to approve requests at discount rates of as low as 80 percent.

The SLD has received authorization to commit as much as $2.7 billion this year, taking into account the fact that E-rate applicants often are unable to use the commitments that have been approved for them. If so, that would mean that the SLD could still commit another $1.241 billion for the funding year that started in July.
