Service providers are reminded that Jan. 28, 2003 is the deadline, in most cases, for submitting payment paperwork associated with internal connections projects for the 2001 E-rate funding year (Year 4).
This deadline applies to projects that had to be finished by September 30, 2002. Under relatively new SLD rules, Service Provider Invoice Forms or BEAR forms associated with those funding requests must be postmarked or received by Jan. 28, 2003. Waivers of this rule are permitted for only a limited number of circumstances.
The deadline does not apply if an applicant did not receive its Form 486 notification letter until after Sept. 30, 2002. In those cases, the invoicing deadline will fall 120 days after the date of the Form 486 notification letter. In addition, funding commitments that were delayed or subject to an appeal may have a different deadline.
