In an apparent effort to try to wrap up its work for the 2003 funding year more quickly, the Schools and Libraries Division announced that on April 20 it will release another wave of E-rate funding commitments for 2003, this one totaling $29.3 million in 103 commitment letters. The SLD issued the wave one week earlier than its usual interval. The wave, the 27th of the funding year, will bring the total committed for 2003 to nearly $2.5 billion.
