Eighth Person Debarred From E-rate Program

The FCC debared Ronald R. Morrett, Jr. from participating in the E-rate program for a period of three years after being convicted of a felony.

The FCC debared Ronald R. Morrett, Jr. from participating in the E-rate program for a period of three years after being convicted of a felony. Specifically, Mr. Morrett plead guilty to conspiring to give kick backs to an Information Technology Director of a school district in Pennsylvania. The other individuals who have been debarred from the E-rate program can be viewed on the SLD website at https://www.usac.org/e-rate/resources/appeals-audits/suspensions-debarments/

The FCC Office of Inspector General reported in April 2005 that they are working with the US. DoJ and the FBI on 35 open cases related to the Universal Service Fund. The FCC is continuing to seek suggestions on how they can deter such activity and combat waste, fraud and abuse within the E-rate program. Comments on the NPRM are due on October 18.
