USAC Issues Semi-Annual Audit Report

On September 30 USAC sent the FCC their semi-annual audit report. The FCC's Fifth Report and Order directed USAC to submit a report to the Commission on a semi-annual basis summarizing the status of all outstanding audit findings.

USAC has conducted 230 audits that cover funding years 1998-2002. The total audited amount was over $1 billion while USAC is only seeking recovery of approximately $40 million and have actually recovered $5 million to date. The remaining balance is in various stages of recovery.

Here is a summary of their findings of outstanding audits as of August 31st. .

  1. USAC is awaiting FCC guidance on an audit recovery of $375,000
  2. From January through April 2005 USAC sent recovery letters to E-rate stakeholders seeking to recover close to $1,300,000
  3. Close to $9 Million that USAC sought to recover is in the appeal process with USAC
  4. Close to $5 Million that USAC sought to recover is in the appeal process with the FCC
