USAC Recommends Denying FY 2007 Priority Two Applications at the 80% Discount Threshold

The USAC Schools and Libraries Committee held a non-quarterly Board meeting on November 28th and recommended that the priority two E-rate requests with a discount rate at or below 80%  be denied because USAC will not have the dollars to support those E-rate requests. This may take a few weeks for the FCC to approve and then an additional couple of weeks before funding waves start getting issued that reflect this information.  That leaves the 81% and 82% discount rates undecided for FY 2007.

According to a Funds For Learning analysis, the SLD has $265 million pending in priority two requests at the 80% discount threshold.  The SLD has over $48 million pending in priority two applications at the 82% discount rate and another $31 million at the 81% discount rate.

Funds For Learning will report when the FCC approves this recommendation.
