FCC Authorizes USAC to Rollover $900 Million for FY 2010

The Federal Communications Commission has authorized $900 million in unused funds from previous years be rolled into the pool of available funding for the 2010 Funding Year. In previous years, the FCC rolled over $900 million for FY 2009, $600 million for FY 2008 and $650 million in FY 2007.

The FCC issued the FY 2009 Rollover Order on July 31, 2009 and the first FY 2009 priority two commitment letters were received on September 3, 2009. Using last year as a guide, the first FY 2010 priority two funding wave for the 90% discount band could be released in early August which would be a month earlier than in FY 2009.

According to the April 30, 2010 USAC Quarterly Report, here is the breakdown of unused funds by funding year:

  • FY 2002 – $25 million
  • FY 2005 – $100 million
  • FY 2006 – $300 million
  • FY 2007 – $375 million
  • FY 2008 – $100 million
