On August 1, 2012, USAC published a ‘Special Edition’ News Brief indicating that the Federal Communications Commission has approved the SLD’s recommendations to set the final Priority 2 discount threshold at 88% for FY 2011 and 90% for FY 2012. USAC reports that funding commitments and denials at these thresholds should start to be issued next week.

The thresholds approved for Funding Years 2011 and 2012 are the highest in program history, followed by an 87% discount threshold in Funding Year 2008. In Funding Year 2012, $1.36 billion was requested at the 90% discount level in the Priority 2 service categories.
