FCC to Request FRN Balance Verifications

On March 1, 2013, USAC notified applicants that as "part of an annual FCC audit of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), applicants and service providers that participate in the E-rate program may be contacted by an auditor to verify an FRN balance as of December 31, 2012." The purpose of the audit is to confirm that funding request balances as recorded in applicant and service provider records match what USAC has on file.

The request will include the balance of a specific FRN as of December 31, 2012, and will ask applicants or service providers to:

agree with the balance featured on the confirmation; or

if it is different, note the balance as of December 31, 2012 on their records.

USAC advises that the audit confirmations are being sent from the domain dpgeorge.com, and encourages applicants to adjust their e-mail filtering systems accordingly.
