The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a hearing on June 18, 2013, 2:30pm ET, to formally approve President Obama’s nomination of Thomas Wheeler to serve as the next FCC Chairman. Former FCC Chairman Genachowski announced he would be stepping down in March 2013 and the position has been vacant since May.
It is expected that Wheeler will be pressed by the Members of the Committee on his views on E-rate reform and President Obama’s ConnectED initiative. The nomination hearing will be held via webcast on the Senate Commerce Committee website.
