On July 19, 2013 the Federal Communications Commission held an Open Meeting. The Commissioners voted to release an E-rate Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to reform the E-rate program for the 21st Century. The Commissioners would like the program to have clear capacity goals and a simplified, streamlined application process.

Below are the FCC Commissioners’ statements as well as the witness statements:

Acting Chairwoman Clyburn E-rate Reform Statement

Commissioner Rosenworcel E-rate Reform Statement

Commissioner Pai E-rate Reform Statement

Former Education Secretary Margaret Spellings
