FY2018: Fewer Requests, Higher Amounts

Fifty-six days from the close of the 2018 filing window and $90 million has been requested.
  • There have been 2,880 funding requests submitted by 1,512 applicants.
  • In comparison, at this same stage in 2017, $133 million had been requested by 2,458 applicants.
Although relatively fewer dollars have been requested so far, it is still early in the filing window. Applicants should note that the filing window closes earlier this year than it has the last several. Some applicants may feel like they have more time than they actually do. The deadline this year is March 22, nearly two months earlier than recent years.

Although slightly fewer applicants have submitted applications, the average applicant has requested a higher amount of money. As shown below, the average amount of funding per applicant is currently about $5,000 more than it was at this same point last year.
