Despite the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous emergency funding programs, the FCC and USAC have managed to set a record for the count of applicants to receive funding and the amount of funds committed by the end of May.
18,541 applicants, or 87% of all FY2021 applicants, have received a funding commitment. Furthermore, $1.23 billion has already been committed. This is a record amount. The sooner a school or library receives a funding decision, the faster they can deploy services. This results in students and library patrons getting the most benefit from the E-rate funding program.
The FCC and USAC should be applauded for this record setting pace.
