In a recent news brief, USAC announced that starting March 13, 2024 an interim Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN) will be available to applicants who are unsure which SPIN to use for their Form 471 submissions. Because a funding request may not be submitted without a valid SPIN, the interim SPIN (143666666) is particularly helpful for applicants who are unsure of the correct SPIN due to multiple SPINs or mergers/acquisitions among service providers. It can also be used in cases where a new service provider is in the process of obtaining a SPIN. While applicants are encouraged to provide the correct SPIN initially, they can use the interim SPIN as a placeholder to ensure timely submission of their funding requests. Updates to the SPIN can be made through a Receipt Acknowledgment Letter (RAL) Modification Request or during the application review process.
